2001 - started at NAB in Las Vegas

In 2001, Sachtler presents the artemis Cine and Cine HD camera stabilizer systems at the NAB in Las Vegas. The artemis Cine HD was the first full HD stabilizer system on the market.

The Cine HD combines all features of the Cine needed for film, like 12V / 24V, recorder in/out for the use of a small recorder and video power to feed a video transmitter plus HD RGB wiring and an HD SD circuit.
Beside this patented HD technologies, the artemis Cine HD and Cine offer some other outstanding product features and inventions.

Fully Modular Design
All components such as side-to-side module, center post, gimbal and lower sled are detachable. This allows:

  • Easy upgrade with our newly developed ACT2 components and single parts.
  • Better operating because of the modularity. After detaching the side-to-side module, the gimbal can be turned over for low mode.
  • Use of the super post for extreme camera angles.
  • Fast and easy service. Only single components need to be shipped to the artemis service and we at Sachtler will do our best to provide you with back-up components, while we repair your components.
  • Extreme tight packing in smaller cases if needed. After detaching the single modules from the rig, the artemis system will fit inside a small case like the Pelikan 1080 case, which is perfect for travel.

Gimbal Turn-over
All artemis systems offer the possibility to detach the side-to-side module and to pull off the gimbal from the post in order to turn it over for perfect low mode operation. So the operator works with the same gimbal diameter as in high mode. Same diameter means same torque and thus the same control over the rig in low mode as in high mode. With other systems the operator has to hold the rig at the post, which is thinner than the gimbal, in low mode. Less diameter causes less torque and thus less control over the rig. The artemis systems offer the same level of control over the rig in high mode and low mode by simply turning the gimbal.

More

Built-in Spirit Bubble
All artemis side-to-side modules have a built-in spirit bubble.
Because of its position in the side-to-side module and its proximity to the camera base, the bubble provides the operator with very precise information on the camera‘s inclination. You can balance the rig faster and more precisely and level the digital bubble in the monitor more accurately and faster.

Homogeneous Weight Distribution of the Camera
A perfectly balanced camera is imperative for a perfectly balanced rig. The design of the artemis systems supports a homogeneous weight distribution of the camera by the option to shift accessories (weights). The artemis side-to-side module was the first top stage that allowed to mount the focus bracket and the focus receiver at four different positions: two at the front and two at the back of the side-to-side module. This flexible way where and how to mount the receiver and where and how to use the weight of the receiver allows a better overall balance of the camera. When a heavy wide angle lens is used and the camera tends to be heavy at the front, mounting the focus remote receiver at the back of the top stage compensates this and optimizes the overall weight distribution in the top stage. Better weight distribution results in a better „dynamic balance“ of the rig.

Pivoting Battery Mount
In 2001, artemis presented with Cine HD and Cine the first pivoting battery mount module consisting of two battery mounts, fuses and electronics in the market. The compact module is attached via rosettes at the end of the adjustable telescopic rods of the lower sled. The battery mount module takes A/B, V-Mount and PAG battery mounts. The rosettes allow various angles when the battery module is pivoted.

Dual Dynamic Balance
The patented "Dual Dynamic Balance" is one of the key inventions in all artemis camera stabilizer systems. It is one of the technologies and procedures that makes it so simple and fast to set up an artemis camera stabilizer system and to achieve a perfect static and dynamic balance.

Pivoting Monitor Bracket
Another artemis design invention in 2001 was the pivoting monitor bracket. As all developments in artemis designs, this innovation has also only one goal: to help you to get a perfectly balanced rig fast and easy.

2003 - artemis EFP Pro HD-SDI

In 2001, the artemis Cine HD was the world‘s first HD camera stabilizer system.

In 2002, the artemis team prepared the next logical step. Based on close teamwork with NHK and Japanese operators, the artemis team around Curt O. Schaller began to work on the HD SDI version of the artemis.

2005 - DV Pro Camera Stabilizer Systems

Beginning in 2005, the artemis design team started the DV Pro project and created a smaller camera stabilizer system for the growing DV and HDV market. One of the basic ideas of the DV Pro design was to create a system with which even pros like to work and to give beginners a system that follows the same philosophy, set-up procedures and functionality as the bigger artemis systems.

2007 - ACT2 - artemis Component Technology / Second Generation

Upgrade instead of buying a new rig: After six successful years on the market, the artemis systems made the next major step. We named the products that resulted from this development process ACT2, artemis component technology / second generation.

2007 ACT2 Spring Arm

In 2007, Sachtler introduced the new ACT2 spring arm at the IBC show in Amsterdam. In the course of the constant development of the artemis product family we engineered the new spring arm as the first ACT2 component.

2008 ACT2 Vest

In 2008, Sachtler introduced the new ACT2 vest at the NAB show in Las Vegas that offers operators more flexibility and comfort. When we developed the artemis ACT2 vest, perfect fit and high comfort were in the center of our attention.

2008 ACT2 Carbon Spring Arm

In 2008, Sachtler introduced the new ACT2 carbon spring arm at the NAB show in Las Vegas. By replacing the aluminum “bones” of the ACT2 spring arm with the ultra-light, rigid and torsion-free carbon fiber “bones”, we could reduce the weight by another 500 gr. / 1.10 lbs. The ultra-lightweight design facilitates high-speed operating and longer-lasting takes. The ACT2 carbon spring arm is also available as an upgrade for existing ACT2 aluminum spring arms.

2009 artemis EFP HD SE Special Edition

In 2009, Sachtler introduced the new artemis EFP HD SE at the NAB show in Las Vegas. The new artemis EFP HD SE special edition is made to support today's digital cinematography in the most professional way ever. Designed and engineered in Germany, the artemis EFP HD SE modular camera stabilizer system is focused on work with the RED ONE and other state-of-the-art HD cameras.
